#ME MEDITATING

Meditating with Covid-19

Welcome to the latest instalment of our #MeMeditating series. Hear from our students as they share their real-life stories of how Vedic Meditation supported them during lockdown.

– April 2020-

I’m Nick.

I thought it useful to share a description of what it’s been like having coronavirus and how my meditation practice has helped me respond to it.

I’m fine now (or very nearly because this takes some getting through), but I had about 12 days of general malaise. Mostly, I had great fatigue and wipe out. For several days, I slept for 4-6 hours during the day and energy levels were very low indeed. A few feverish days and aching limbs, but not serious and also no real cough although there was definitely a tightening of the chest. I’m 65 but very fit as I cycle a lot. However I did have a serious brush with cancer 2 years ago (all good now) so my immune system might not be 100%. A doctor mate reckons that for every day you display symptoms, you need another day to get back to full working order, so 24 days in total for me, which feels about right. 3 to go.

I continued to meditate throughout and there is no question that, as ever, it removed a level of stress and worry that many would experience. I often found myself sleeping for an hour following meditation, and that always felt like really restorative sleep.

We’ll get through this and we’ll emerge better for it.
